Janet Appel, Public Relations Professional
Janet Appel’s expertise in public relations includes media relations, new product launches and product promotion, event planning, developing community relations sponsored programs, new business development, strategic problem solving and crisis management. She brings over 30 years of experience in public relations and has worked in a broad range of industries including financial services, real estate, staffing/employment, food and beverage, fashion, healthcare, entertainment and the equestrian world. Clients include Harvard Health Publications, (a division of Harvard Medical School), The Brain Music Therapy Center, Shopoff Group/Shopoff Realty Investments (REITS), Manhattan Mortgage, Puissance Enterprises (real estate), DreamWorks, Snelling Personnel Services and Bacardi. She has strengthened her clients’ image while enhancing their visibility through the trade and public in national, regional and local print/ broadcast and web media within major markets around the country. Media obtained for her clients includes but is not limited to: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Institutional Investor, Investor’s Business Daily, The Washington Post, Barron’s, California Lawyer, Plaintiff Magazine, The Legal Advocate,  Associated Press, Reuter’s TV, MSNBC, WCBS, CNBC, “The Today Show,” “Good Morning America,” Bloomberg Radio, and Marketwatch.com.  She has also arranged for a client to speak at Google, Microsoft, The University of Wharton Alumni Club, and The University of Pennsylvania Alumni Club.
 
As a former volunteer for Big Apple Greeter, Janet obtained over 80 percent of auction items and introduced visitors to the best of The Big Apple. She recently was one of three experts on the panel “Don’t Forget Radio” at the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA). Clients have repeatedly stated that Janet “goes the extra mile” and “consistently gets the desired results.” Janet holds a B.A. in Speech Communication with a minor in English and German studies from Lehman College.

Barbara Burns

Barbara Burns, Public Relations Strategies
Barbara specializes in crafting public relations strategies and programs, developing positioning and messaging, and carrying out communication programs nationally and globally. In addition to her role as advisor to senior management, Barbara is an accomplished business writer and editor.

Prior to establishing her own consultancy, Barbara managed integrated marketing programs at Grey Advertising. Previously, she served in management positions at major PR agencies in the US, Europe and Brazil.

Barbara has NGO status at the United Nations Department of Information (UN DPI) representing the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) and is a member of the DPI/NGO Executive Committee.

Victoria Baker

​Victoria designs and implements communications programs as well as public and investor relations strategies for clients nationwide. She brings more than 30 years of communications experience to her role as principal of Victoria Baker Enterprises. Before starting the practice in the late 1990s, Vicki was the senior communications officer of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT), where she directed the education of key constituencies. These efforts contributed to the growth of REITs from a cottage industry to recognized international stature. Her activities included organizing annual presentations at the New York Stock Exchange, including REITs within major stock indices and getting coverage for commercial real estate companies in major business and consumer press. Vicki also served as a member of the start-up team for Pension Real Estate Association. Following that, Vicki was vice president of the Financial Relations Board.
 
Vicki led stakeholder communications for DuPont Fabros Technology’s (NYSE:DFT) $640 million initial public offering. She introduced UK real estate companies and a German wind energy company to US investors. She has written numerous annual reports for publicly traded companies. She also manages the public and media relations for a metropolitan Washington, DC-based National Park and living history museum.
 
Among community organizations Vicki serves on the Board of Directors of The Claude Moore Colonial Farm at Turkey Run. She has volunteered for Cornerstones, a Northern Virginia community service organization, as well as Lost Dogs and Cats Rescue Foundation. Vicki holds a BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Delaware, and is a graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organization Management.
